The Spanish for the Professions course is a great course that provides students with an opportunity to better language proficiency . This course helped me meet Major Learning Outcome 2 (Language and Linguistic Knowledge). In this course we studied several words relating to the business world. We also developed a better understanding for the use of the subjunctive. Out of the many things covered in the course, the thing that will always be of great use, is the business email our professor assigned us to write, for an assignment. In this assignment we were to compose an email for a job of our interest. In the email, it was urgent for us to show our interest in that position. Along with showing our interest, it was crucial for us to show our experience as well. Showing our interest and experience, required me to use more fancy words like "profound interest" and "prestigious". Our professor provided us with the structure to write the email. Thanks to this assignment I now know how to write a professional email to a possible employer, using more advanced grammar. This course made it very clear that in order to obtain a job it is important to know the right things to say in an interview. Along with writing formal emails, I learned new words to use in a job interview. This class required one to really study words, and learn to use them. I was able to better my overall language and linguistic knowledge. Which is significant because I now have the tools tools to really make an impression in an interview, in the future. Although I learned a lot of new words, I hope to keep learning more. I believe expanding my vocabulary will better my ways of communicating with Spanish-speaking intellectuals. This class reminds me of my high school AP Spanish class. In my AP class, we were also taught to write business emails. But the ones we wrote in high school were very simple. I hope to further this learning experience by continuing to practice the vocabulary I was taught during the course.
